چکیده

Objective: The objective of this study was to explore methods for the diagnosis and treatment of popliteal venous aneurysms. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the diagnostic and treatment processes used for 2 patients with popliteal venous aneurysms. The main symptoms in these 2 patients were pain and local swelling; pulmonary embolism (PE) was not found in these patients. Both the patients were treated using tangential aneurysmectomy with lateral venorrhaphy, followed by warfarin anticoagulation therapy for at least 1 year. Results: Both the patients recovered well with good popliteal vein shapes after surgery, as shown by angiography. No thrombosis-related complications were found until 1 year and 3 months after surgical intervention. Conclusion: Surgical resection should be performed as soon as possible after the diagnosis of popliteal venous aneurysm. Patients should be administered postoperative anticoagulation therapy to prevent thrombosis that may result from the potential risk of PE. Lesser saphenous vein aneurysm and popliteal vein aneurysm: report of two cases and review of the literature.

BACKGROUND During the last ten years we diagnosed two cases of venous aneurysm. The purpose of this report was to point out a certain risk of the thrombembolism of superficial venous aneurysms and to review our experience in the management of superficial and deep venous aneurysms. METHODS The presentation and management of these lesions were reviewed and discussed together with other cases fr...

Aneurysmal degeneration of vein conduit used for vascular reconstruction—Case report and literature review

INTRODUCTION Popliteal artery aneurysms (PAA) are the most prevalent form of peripheral arterial aneurysms. Greater saphenous vein grafts and endoaneurysmorrhaphy remains the mainstay therapy for open repair of PAA. True aneurysmal degeneration of lower extremity infrainguinal autologous vein grafts are relatively rare and its etiology is not completely understood. CASE PRESENTATION We presen...

Arteriosclerotic Popliteal Aneurysms

IN THE FIELD of medicine there are few conditions presenting a threat to life and limb that are as readily diagnosable before the occurrence of catastrophe as aneurysms of the popliteal artery. Moreover, this is a pathologic condition that has been amenable to surgical attack for 200 years, since John Hunter performed femoral artery ligation in the adductor canal. In spite of the potential ease...

Management of symptomatic and asymptomatic popliteal venous aneurysms: a retrospective analysis of 25 patients and review of the literature.

OBJECTIVE Popliteal venous aneurysms (PVAs) are an uncommon but potentially life-threatening disease because they can be a source for pulmonary emboli (PE). With the widespread use of venous duplex scanning, PVAs are increasingly found in patients with deep or superficial vein insufficiency, and questions have arisen as to the management of these aneurysms. The purpose of this study was to revi...
